Flag football season at the YMCA begins for teams from the White Rock and Lake Highlands areas.
The NFL draft came and went last weekend leaving YMCA flag football players unpicked. They remain unbowed, though, and recently took to the YMCA league season — played at the Lake Highlands YMCA for all East Dallas kids — with energy and enthusiasm.
League play kicked off April 18, and included a tilt between teams made up mostly of students from Stonewall Jackson Elementary School and Lakehill Preparatory School, respectively.
A total of 122 players signed up for the league, 46 of whom registered at the Lake Highlands YMCA and 76 at the YMCA at White Rock.
The teams play an eight-game schedule, with individual team banquets and awards ceremonies typically occurring at the end of the season.
Mostly, though, it's all about the fun.
