Revisiting ‘Glory Days'

Some people want to see their "way-back-when" friends more often than a high school reunion once a decade or a yearly homecoming. These people would be the Woodrow WIlson High School graduates who meet up at The High Point in northeast Dallas once a month. Even after all these years, they just can't seem to get enough of each other.

To these Woodrow grads, it is simply called, "LT" because it occurs the last thursday of every month. Festivities kick off about 6:30 p.m., and typically hit full speed about 8 p.m.

More than three years ago, classmates from Woodrow classes of '62 and '63 began having a monthly get-together, and it grew from there. Younger brothers and sisters from later Woodrow classes learned about it, and , well, high school parties grow once the word is out.

Now the party includes members from Woodrow classes of the early '60s all the way to the mid-'70s. With sixty to eighty attendees most months, it rivals the attendance at once-a-decade, traditional reunions for many high schools.

The class of 1969 probably has the most substantial turnout, which undoubtedly has something to do with Bill Knox. He's the same Lakewood resident who rounded up members of his first-grade class to attend the Robert E. Lee 75th Anniversary in May.
