Gaining Insight into Another Religion

This past Friday night, the devotees of Hare Krishna enthusiastically celebrated Gaura Purnima at the Radha Kalachandji temple in East Dallas.

Guara Purnima is the appearance day of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu, born in West Bengal, India, in 1486. Hare Krishnas believe that Lord Caitanya appeared as Krishna himself to say that there is no other method to understanding God than by service.

Nityananda Chandra Das, a minister at the temple, explained another tenet of the religion and Gaura Purima.

"The theme this year is the market place of the Holy Name. One interpretation is that Caitanya has the fruits of God. I am but one gardener who can distribute the fruits of the love of God to anyone. The price is just a little faith."
