East Lake Pet Orphanage gets a boost and cars get clean at the annual car wash.
Volunteering to help get rescued dogs and cats adopted into new homes can be a dirty business. Cages have to be cleaned, poop has to be scooped, timid animals have to be bathed.
People affiliated with the East Lake Pet Orphanage recently took a break from all that to turn their cleaning duties toward cars and trucks rather than dogs and cats.
A group of volunteers set up a car wash at the Sonic drive-in restaurant on Garland Road to raise money for the orphanage, which is an off-shoot of East Lake Veterinary Hospital on Northwest Highway.
