Woodrow rocks, quite literally.
The school has produced scores of musicians during its 80-year history, and about two dozen of them — spread among seven bands — take the stage during the Woodrow Wilson High School 80th anniversary throw-down.
We mentioned — Jeff Jones, class of '78 — in this morning's article about the celebration. But wait, there's more.
The show also includes, as was pointed out in a reader's e-mail this morning, The Kats, which feature Logan Curtright ,'71, David LeCour, '71, and Paul Welch, ‘72.
OK, there are other members in almost each band, but for brevity's sake, and that of my fingers, we'll name just the Woodrow grads; no offense intended to the other players.
Next, we have Eight Arms to Hold You, a Beatles tribute band with a nice grasp of Beatles trivia, made up of Sean Tinsley, '04, Christian Rios, '06, and Tony Rios, '05.
The Zapruder Sequence fills at least 26.6 seconds of stage time with members James Binford, '99, Jon Binford, '95, Michael Karnowski, '99, and Jordan Munn, '00.
Matt Tolentino, '03, plays piano and banjo for the Singapore Slingers.
The Knuckleheads include Jim Echols, '78.
The Old 68's, entirely a Woodrow-grad band, are Steve Bones, '68, Ronnie Caddell, '68, Rusty Brydon, '68 — oh, I get it — and Jimmy Barnett, '67, wait, huh?
And lastly, we get to The Exiles as manned by Mike Ellis, '67, Jimmy Barnett, '67, Blake Miles, '67, Jay Ballou, '67, Keith Barnett, '67, and Steve Bones, '68.
