Emerging Artists Display at Church

Unity Church served as the stage for artists from the area Aug. 15, with the Emerging Young Artists art show in its Upper Room Art Gallery.

The show displayed artwork of recent graduates from Booker T. Washington High School of Performing Arts. The artists included Melissa Archer, Thomas Colley, Maria Cortes, Alex Hamrick, Rudy Jacoby, Huy Nguyen, Zeke Raney, and Olivia Rodriguez.

The Hamrick family, supporters of the art community at Booker T., helped organize art shows for students. Alex Hamrick, who graduated from Booker T. a few years ago, is home for summer from The School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.

Along with exhibiting some of his own artwork, he had the responsibility of making sure the show ran smoothly with the help of the recent graduates.
