Easy pickings

A crime watch bulletin prepared and distributed by the Lakewood Crime Watch and the ever-vigilant Nancy Wilson tells us that burglaries of motor vehicle are up 50 percent across the Northeast Patrol Division.

Times are tough, criminals gotta eat, and drivers leave their stuff — laptops, cell phones, GPS devices, briefcases, purses — visible in a car they’ve left “just for a minute.”

BMVs, police say, are crimes of convenience. It takes no time at all to smash a window and grab an armload of stuff. Be sure to make it inconvenient for crooks. Lock the doors, take or hide the stuff, help police help us.

Don’t be a victim waiting to happen.End of story
