Runners take off to start last year's 5K portion of Trek for Tech.
Lakehill Preparatory School wants to outdo itself.
Last year the school raised more than $20,000 for technology purchases from its annual Trek for Tech Fun Run and registered 5K chip-timed race. This year, organizers aim to top that mark.
The 11th annual Trek for Tech takes place Nov. 7. The course starts and ends at the main campus.
The Fun Run begins at 8 a.m., and the 5K at 8:30 a.m. An awards ceremony will follow the races at 9:30 a.m. Awards will be presented to the overall male and female finishers and the top three male and female finishers in the following age groups: 8 and younger, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-16, 17-19; and first place male and female for the following age groups: 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and older. Everyone who finishes the one-mile Fun Run will receive a ribbon.
The race is also open to the public. Online registration is available until noon Nov. 3. Packet pick-up is available at Lakehill's main campus Nov. 5-6, from 7-8 a.m., and 3-4 p.m., and on race day, beginning at 7 a.m. Registration is $20 in advance and $25 on the day of the race.
All proceeds from Trek for Tech are used to purchase technology and equipment for the classroom and the Alice and Erle Nye Family Environmental Science Center. Donations to the Wish List should be sent directly to the school and payable to Lakehill Preparatory School.
