David and Tina Roden, and Melissa and Michael Todora of Parkit-Market featured Meatball Subs and Brisket Sliders.
The soon-to-be annual Taste of Greenville took place Oct. 24. Establishments such as Dodie’s Cajun Diner, the Greenville Avenue Pizza Co., and Pietro’s Italian restaurant each occupied a small space of the parking lot behind the Granada Theater for the 2009 Taste of Greenville Avenue.
Two rows of tents lined the parking lot on the east and west sides of the avenue, with the beer coolers in the middle and the music stage along Martel Avenue. Local alt-country bands The King Bucks and Max Stalling provided music.
There was even a dunk tank — which local neighborhood activist Avi Adelman occupied — and a bounce house for the kiddos.
Appetizers and samples of main dishes were offered up starting at $2 and going to $4.
Highlights from the Taste of Greenville included the Brisket Lasagna from Terilli’s, Kobe foie gras Sliders from Wood Fire Kirby’s, and Parmesan Herb-Crusted Flash-Fried Shrimp with cocktail sauce from Daddy Jack’s.
The first Taste of Greenville was a major success. If this year is any indication of what is to come, the Granada is going to need a bigger parking lot.
