It will be an explosion of dance this week when Contemporary Ballet Dallas rips the lid off its season premiere performance of “Breaking Through” at 7:30 p.m., Oct. 29 at the Lakewood Theatre.
Fusing traditional ballet with contemporary dance and music, the company will present audience favorites and original works by local choreographers.
CBD’s artistic director, Valerie Shelton Tabor, restages “Leave Her … Loving.” The piece, performed to a musical collage by the Dave Matthews Band, follows the plight of a struggling relationship as well as the emotional breakthroughs each character undergoes.
Audience favorite “Rights of Survivorship” — a tribute to breast cancer awareness and survival — also will be performed to the familiar and intimate music of Collective Soul.
