Dallas band Lovie plays during the Pet Fair.
Nearly 40 local participating organizations filled the parking lot at the East Lake Veterinary Hospital Sunday morning for the eighth annual East Lake Pet Orphanage Pet Fair.
Along with organizations, 58 volunteers and ELVH employees Lynda Schafer and Roxanne Tucker helped keep the fair and silent auction running smoothly.
Suzanne Koneful, director of community outreach for the orphanage, organized the event and searched for vendors that would help engage the community with activities for pets and their owners.
Vendors such as Café Lago provided snacks and drinks — for humans and pets. Café Lago works closely with the orphanage partly because it is the first restaurant in Dallas to receive a pet-friendly patio permit; not only can owners bring their pets to lunch with them, they can also order a meal for their pets from the Puppy Meals menu. Fifteen percent of the profits earned from the Puppy Menu are donated to the orphanage.
