Lakehill winners and their teachers
Four Lakehill Preparatory School students snagged first, second, or third place titles in the recent Expressions Arts Competition at Thanks-Giving Square.
Students from throughout the city competed in visual arts and written word arts categories. This year's competition focused on Abraham Lincoln and his impact on the celebration of Thanksgiving as a national holiday.
The awards were handed out Nov. 19.
Kiefer Gorena, taught by Julie Riggs, placed first in the written word competition among sixth- through eighth-graders. Gabrielle Gard, taught by John Trout, took second place honors in the grades four through five category. Gus Teter, taught by Jenny Livengood, scored third place in the kindergarten-third grade weight class.
Over on the visual arts side of the house, Karl Sheeran won third place recognition in the sixth- through eighth-grade competition, in part, because of lessons from Cat Huitt.
