J.L. Long Middle School science team coach Armelia King and math coach Harry Singh guided their charges to a third place overall finish in the Texas Math and Science Coaches Association State Competition, which took place in San Antonio, March 29.
Seventh-grader Sam Bull topped the science competition in the 4A division. Fellow seventh-grader Graeme Hamilton earned third place in the same classification, while Noah Mendoza and Russell Regan took fourth and seventh place honors, respectively.
Competing among eighth-graders, Martin Lopez was awarded eighth place in science. Abel Ewere, also in the eighth-grade division, received ninth place in the number sense test, 15th in science and 18th in general math, placing in all competitions in which he competed.
Sergio Garza won 11th place among seventh-graders in science, and seventh-graders Amy Cox garnered 17th place in science, and Grace Choi was awarded 19th place in science.
