On the week of March 9th - March 13th Lakewood Elementary hosted their student council coin drive. The money was all being donated to the SPCA. The SPCA is an organization that shelters stray animals and keeps other shelters from putting animals to sleep.
To raise money, children could bring in any spare change including pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters. With kindergarten - 2nd grades competing and 3rd - 5th grades competing it was a neck to neck battle on who would get the gold; but winning mattered less than raising money for a helpful and wonderful life-saving group.
